What are the Kurdish words for peace, language and respect? This Turkish-Kurdish dictionary (Türkce-Kürtce Sözlük/Ferhenga Tirki-Kurdi, kurmanci) is comprehensive and unique, containing some 23,000 headwords in addition to explanations of many phrases and grammatical constructions. It has been compiled over 20 years by Mehmet Tanrikulu, who is resident in Germany, where he teaches Kurdish and Turkish in many schools. To be deprived of it entails being deprived of one's cultural identity, and one's historical and literary context.
